Upgrading\Installing Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RC

Go it’s late to publish this post as Visual studio 2010 is being launched in middle of this week or so, but still it will be helpful for people who want to install a release candidate version. This article describes how you can upgrade from Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 to Visual Studio 2010 RC; if you are a new bee and want to install RC standalone navigate to step 3.

Before installing VS 2010 RC, you need to uninstall couple of old beta products.

Step1: Uninstall “Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 2”

Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile Beta 2

* After this uninstall you will be prompted by the following dialog to restart the machine; this is mandatory as it will remove some registry entries and global assembly references.

Restart OS.

Step 2: Uninstall “Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Beta 2 –ENU” [ENU] represents which language build it is.


Step 3: If you already have the Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RC ISO image, unzip it using any compression tool like WinRar or PowerISO. Then click the setup.exe file and follow the installation wizard accordingly.
